“The L Word: Generation Q” has found its new leads

After an extensive search, The L Word sequel, L Word: Generation Q has found its new core cast members. In addition to Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey, reprising their roles as Bette, Shane and Alice, respectively, Showtime announced four new leading characters and the actors who would be playing them. Here’s the scoop.

Actor Jacqueline Toboni is probably the most recognizable of the crew, as she has starred in the Netflix series, Easy, as lesbian character Jo. She also had a leading role in Grimm, and recently wrapped filming on the film, Liked, written and directed by The L Word: Generation Q show runner, Marja-Lewis Ryan. Toboni is playing Sarah Finley, who according to Deadline, “is a charming but unfocused assistant who struggles to reconcile her sexual orientation with her religious upbringing.”

Leo Sheng is a relative new comer, but already building his resume with interesting projects. Sheng plays Ethan in the film Adam, currently on the festival circuit. In TLWGQ, Sheng plays Micah, an adjunct professor and climate scientist.

Playing Dani Nùñez is Arienne Mandi, who has appeared in shows like NCIS and Hawaii Five-0. Dani and Micah are exes and best friends, and Dani is a PR executive, according to the pilot script. She also has a pretty fun instagram.

And last but not least we have Rosanny Zayas, who will be appearing in Orange is the New Black’s final season. Zayas has also had a career on the stage, and will be playing Sophie, “a TV producer who guards her heart and is quick to put other people’s needs before her own.”

This casting announcement is exciting and bodes well for what Marja-Lewis Ryan has up her sleeve for the show.
