There’s no need to dread swimsuit season anymore. With more and more choices for different body types and gender expressions, you no longer have to settle for a suit that doesn’t make you feel amazing. Here are some suits from queer-owned or friendly businesses that will have you looking and feeling incredible once the water warms up and it’s time to dive in.
Be still my heart, Beefcake. According to the website, “Beefcake Swimwear is one-piece androgynous swimsuits inspired by 1920s style. Sizes XS – 5X. We use eco-friendly and ethical practices to make our swimsuits in the USA.” They also look amazing in real life, as one of my friends wore a few versions of the signature suit on a recent cruise. I personally love the expanded sizes that include plus-size folks.
You love their colorful androgynous undies, now fall for their equally epic swimwear. One of the benefits of going on a lesbian cruise, is you get to see all kinds of great swimwear in the flesh and this is another version I got to see on a real person, and it was ADORBS! I’m a huge fan of the unisuit and will be placing my order this week!
I admit, I’m new to Outplay, but I really dig their fun and playful swimwear that works whether you are looking to show off on the sand, or hit some serious waves. Hopefully they will expand their sizing a bit more as they become more and more established.
If you prefer to werk that beach like a runway, then Chromat is the way to go. Chromat’s motto is “the future is inclusive, empowering and sustainable” and while they are the most pricey picks on the list, these suits slay in all sizes.
