Demi and Kristian get engaged on Bachelor in Paradise, break new television ground. You’d be hard pressed to find a more heterosexual franchise than The Bachelor, and yet, even the reality TV juggernaut knew it had to evolve. Enter Demi Burnett, a contestant on the show’s 23rd season and a fan favorite for her bubbly and funny personality, joined Bachelor in Paradise this season. Yet, something was amiss with Demi. It turns out that she had fallen in love with a woman named Kristian Haggerty back home. In a surprise twist, producers brought Kristian to the show so she and Demi could figure their relationship out. And that’s exactly what they did. The couple got engaged on the finale of Bachelor in Paradise (a series first!) and became the shippable couple of the year. Congrats Demi and Kristian!
Jane Lynch and Cyndi Lauper to star in a modern-day Golden Girls-type show. Well now I’m intrigued! Lynch who is a lesbian in real life, and Lauper who is a huge LGBTQ-ally, are teaming up with Netflix to bring us a new series about two mature single women looking for what’s next.
Birds of Prey gets a poster. Buckle up for the Margot Robbie led Birds of Prey (The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). This film stars Robbie as the beloved baddie, Harley Quinn, and features other badass women characters including lesbian character Renee Montoya played by Rosie Perez. Harley herself is canonically bisexual in the comic books.
Ellen dated Brad Pitt’s ex? Spill it! On this week’s Ellen, her guest was actor Brad Pitt and the two longtime friends talked about when they first met (at Melissa Etheridge’s pool party, natch) and Ellen flirted with Brad’s girlfriend. Ellen then revealed that she dated one of Brad’s exes, but doesn’t spill the beans on who.
