Five good and gay things that happened this week: 6/22-6/28

Happy Friday! Here’s your dose of good and gay this week.

The Angels are back and gayer than ever! Yesterday the trailer for the new Charlie’s Angels reboot dropped and reaction was, well, GREAT. Kristen Stewart has enough swagger for a trilogy of Angels films, Ella Balinska is *chef’s kiss*, Naomi Scott is adorbs, and Elizabeth Banks as Bosley will have you swooning. (Also, Janelle Monáe‘s “Make Me Feel” is the trailer’s soundtrack.)

One Day at a Time is getting a new life on POP. Dale, ODAAT, Dale. Thankfully, after months of campaigning for a new home, the beloved series about the Alvarez family has landed on the cable channel POP. Netflix’s loss will be POP’s gain.

Queer horror fans, get hyped. A documentary about the history of queer horror is coming to Shudder. The streaming service which focuses on horror announced they are working on a new original documentary on queer people in horror from the early insidious days of the Hays Code to the present. If you are a horror buff like me, this is scary good news.

Juliantina fans rejoice, a movie and spin-off are on the way. In very happy news, the couple Julia and Valentina from the Mexican series, Amar a Muerte, are getting a spin-off series AND a movie to further explore their relationship which was beloved by fans worldwide. This is in big thanks to fans’ dedication and the actors who championed their roles and characters’ relationship.

Out queer actress Stephanie Allynne is the newest L Word: Generation Q cast member. Yay for Allynne who recently starred in and co-wrote the series One Mississippi with her wife, Tig Notaro. According to EW, she’ll be playing “Nat, “a sweet therapist who is struggling to co-parent with a hostile ex-wife and her live-in girlfriend.” Here’s hoping she’s Alice’s potential love interest.
