Five good (and gay) things that happened this week: 3/24-3/30

Happy almost the weekend!

1. Hayley Kiyoko’s album Expectations is released. Talk about expectations! Singer/actor/director/lesbian icon Hayley Kiyoko’s debut full length album is now available. Listen, live it, love it.

2. Samira Wiley to receive GLAAD Vito Russo Award. Congrats to out actress  Samira Wiley, who will be receiving the prestigious Vito Russo Award this May 5th at GLAAD’s annual New York gala. The award is presented to “an openly LGBT media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality.” She’s also celebrating her wedding anniversary this week, so yay Samira!

3. One Day at a Time has been renewed for a third season! Dale, Netflix, dale! After making fans wait…and wait some more, the streaming giant renewed the beloved sitcom. That means we get at least one more season of Elena coming into her own, expert parenting by Penelope, and of course, Abuelita.

  4. Out bisexual student activist Emma Gonzalez delivers powerful speech at March for Our Lives. This past weekend’s March for Our Lives, there were many stirring and moving speeches delivered by high school students against gun violence. The final speech of the day was delivered by Marjory Stoneman Douglas senior, Emma Gonzalez. Gonzalez, who has become one of the most recognizable faces in the movement, used her platform to stand in silence for over six minutes, the time it took a gunman to kill 17 of her classmates. A serious moment calling for reflection and action, and showing that Gonzalez is an inspiring voice for change.

  5. Tello’s Happy Wife, Happy Life returns for S2. Married couples Bridget McManus and Karman Kregloe, Cat Davis and Kristen Smith are back with a new season of their adorable and handy advice series about domestic bliss. They are dishing out words of wisdom and laughs, but mostly good advice about maintaining a strong relationship through communication, love, and trust. Awww! Watch the first four episodes of S2 on Youtube for free, and you can watch the previous season on Tello now.
