Five good and gay things that happened this week: 11/30-12/6

Happy Friday!

Lena Waithe’s Twenties trailer is finally here and coming to BET. After six long years, Waithe’s beloved webseries is finally becoming a scripted show. Twenties is about three friends trying to make it in LA, including queer aspiring writer, Hattie (Jonica “JoJo” T. Gibbs). BET doesn’t give a specific date, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Ryan Murphy’s Netflix adaptation of The Prom has found its lead. Congrats to Jo Ellen Pellman, a recent University of Michigan grad who will be playing lesbian high schooler Emma in The Prom. Pellman herself identifies as queer, too.

Freeform’s Ghosting The Spirit of Christmas has a wild plot and a lesbian supporting character. OITNB and Waitress star, Kimiko Glenn is Kara, the gay best friend of Jess (The Bold Type‘s Aisha Dee), who died in a car accident and comes back as a ghost. Kara tries to help Jess figure out why she is still stuck on Earth, and it involves ghost dating, ghost sex (not with Kara) and the true meaning of friendship. The film premiered this week so you can catch up on Freeform.

British lesbian couple both carry their child. Like in their wombs! Congrats to Jasmine and Donna Francis-Smith who recently welcomed a child, whom both women carried at some point in their wombs. My wife and I sometimes share sweaters.

Shane hair is back! Get ready for a new generation of lesbians and queer folks going into their stylists to ask for “the Shane.”
