Five good and gay things that happened this week: 1/4-1/10, 2020

It’s the first week without a holiday. How are you holding up?

Visible: Out on Television documentary gets its first trailer. Apple TV introduced the five part documentary about LGBTQ visibility on TV, which kicks off on Valentine’s Day. It features out artists and actors like Lena Waithe, Ellen DeGeneres, Rachel Maddow and more.

Speaking of visibility, Queering the Script documentary is now available to Canadian audiences on Hollywood Suite channel and OUTtv. The 2019 documentary about queer women and the fight for representation on TV has only been available on the festival circuit. Hopefully it will soon premiere internationally.

The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics announced their Dorian Awards winners. Also known as GALECA, the org is made up of LGBTQ+ critics, myself included. Some of the winners include Parasite, which took home a number of top prizes, Portrait of a Lady on Fire which won Best LGBTQ Film, Booksmart and many more.

Birds of Prey gets a new trailer that explodes with awesomeness. The Harley Quinn led film features the DC characters Cassandra Cain, Huntress, Black Canary, and of course, lesbian character Renee Montoya!

For another dose of superheroes, check out the long-awaited New Mutants trailer. The trailer features what looks like a romance between Danielle Moonster and Rahne Sinclair.
